Community Champion (City Lead)

Kano, Abuja, or Lagos Full-time

Be the trusted face and heartbeat of Masinja in your city, building grassroots relationships with local merchants, market associations, and neighbourhood buyers.

About the Role

Masinja is not built from behind a remote desk; it is built on the ground in Kantin Kwari, Computer Village, Wuse Market, and bustling city trading streets. As a Community Champion, you spend your time where our shops and buyers actually are. You sign up respected neighbourhood merchants, walk them through their first five deals, troubleshoot questions face-to-face, and organize local community discovery activations.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Be the primary point of contact for merchants in your assigned commercial districts.
  • Onboard local shops in person, showing them how to photograph goods, post deals, and handle incoming buyer enquiries.
  • Build relationships with market leaders, trade groups, and neighbourhood business associations.
  • Organize hyper-local community activations and buyer discovery events.
  • Gather direct merchant and customer feedback on the ground to guide product improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • Deep familiarity with commercial centres and shopping districts in your target city.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; you can build genuine rapport with a market trader as easily as with a tech founder.
  • Fluency in English and the dominant trade language of your city (e.g. Hausa, Yoruba, or Pidgin).
  • Self-driven and energetic: you enjoy being in the field meeting people rather than sitting behind a screen all day.

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in brand ambassadorship, field sales, community organizing, or retail operations.
  • An active personal network of local business owners or creator communities in your city.
