Mobile Engineer, Flutter
Build the vendor and buyer apps in Flutter, for people using them one-handed, mid-conversation, on an average phone.
About the Role
Almost everyone who touches Masinja touches it through a phone. A shop owner posting a deal while serving a customer. A buyer scrolling on a bus and asking about something. None of them are sitting down, and most are not on a fast connection or a new device. That constraint shapes everything in this role, and it is the interesting part of it.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and ship the vendor and buyer apps on iOS and Android.
- Make the app usable on a mid-range device with an unreliable connection.
- Own offline behaviour, so a shop can post a deal and have it sync when signal returns.
- Work directly with design on flows that hold up when someone is distracted.
- Keep startup time and battery use honest, and measure both.
What We're Looking For
- Four or more years building mobile apps, with real Flutter experience.
- You have shipped to both stores and dealt with what that involves.
- Solid grasp of offline-first patterns and local state that survives a bad network.
- You care about how something feels in the hand, not only whether it works.
Nice to Have
- Native Swift or Kotlin for the places Flutter cannot reach.
- Worked on an app used by people whose job is not sitting at a desk.
- Experience with maps and live location.
